On September 10,2023, our club held a charity sale at Firefighters Park. The club officers arrived at Firefighters Park at 9:00 AM to set up our booth and make preparations for our sale. We were delighted to see a decent amount of customers visiting our booth in the morning, admiring our art pieces, and participating in the activities organized by our kids. We were especially pleased to welcome a special needs child who joined us to draw with our members. He had some wonderful interactions with our members and displayed astonishing talent in coloring. Our members all loved being with him and witnessing him developing wonderful bits of art.
Later in the day, it began to rain. Initially, we hoped to wait for the rain to stop, but as time passed, the rain grew heavier and heavier. Eventually, we had to end our club's activities early to prevent our paintings from being ruined by the rainwater. Protecting our art pieces in the rain was not easy, and this experience surely challenged our members to stay united and show persistence to look after our booth as well as stay by our booth despite the huge rain and wind. Our members had to constantly look out for any rain blowing into our booth. Although we all hoped that the rain would end later, and our charity sale could continue, we soon realized that that was not going to be the case. So, after a short meeting, we thought that it was probably best to end early so our paintings wouldn't get ruined. When we began to clean up, we had to carry only a few pieces at a time, with one person holding an umbrella, to ensure the safe transportation of our artwork to the car. Although we didn't raise as many funds as we had hoped for due to the weather, the experience of hosting a charity sale in such challenging conditions was unique and valuable. It is also a great pleasure for all of our members to have this wonderful opportunity to spend time with the special needs children and offer them a memorable experience. Unfortunately, some of the special needs children couldn't come because of the rain, but our club looks forward to having them join us at our next sale!
