Early today on October 08, 2023, the weather was clear and our club members came to Firefighters Park as scheduled for the charity sale for Special Needs kids. As the steady flow of people arrived, more and more people stopped by our booth to admire the products. Our members also took the initiative to hand out flyers and promote the event. Before long, Amy and her partner successfully received a $5 donation from a resident who was buying groceries. As noon approached, the sun disappeared behind the clouds and the weather became cold.
Despite the chilly wind, our members persisted in introducing the artworks, handing out flyers, and managed to sell a painting by our member Olivia to an elderly gentleman, as well as a photograph to a young lady. They, along with many others, supported and encouraged our members to continue organizing charity sales in the community.
During the event, several special needs kids joined our booth, and our members accompanied them in drawing, swinging on the swings, and playing frisbee. Everyone had a great time together. Our partner, Long Island Music Alliance, also made a special trip to the site and performed an hour of music for the community residents voluntarily. Their professional performance was well-loved by the residents!
Today, a total of 9 members participated in the charity sale for 5-6 hours, and the donations and sales amounted to $70. Despite feeling cold and hungry, everyone was very happy for the successful fundraising! We welcome more young people to join us!
